Brandon Gomez visited our ELD classes this past week to share an inspiring message with students: “You can do it. You have a great future ahead of you, and education is important.”

Gomez is a graduate of the Nebo School District and currently serves as a teacher at Mapleton Junior High. As a young Latino educator, he is an exceptional example of perseverance, achievement, and service. He has received multiple awards, is highly regarded by his students, and continues to make a meaningful impact in his school and community.

In addition to teaching, Gomez is a soccer coach, a well-traveled individual, and a lifelong learner. He holds a master’s degree and is currently working toward his doctorate. His visit left students motivated and encouraged to pursue their goals through education.

Grace Hadfield:

My name is Grace Hadfield. I am a Sewing/CTE teacher at SHHS. Before coming to Salem Hills, I was in school at BYU. My favorite foods are tacos and pizza! My favorite color is pink!! My favorite hobby is Sewing! I also love to bake! I love to go on outdoor walks or lift weights! My favorite holiday is the 4th of July or my birthday;). My favorite kind of music is Country. I grew up in Palmyra aka Spanish Fork on a small farm. I have 3 sisters and I’m married to my best friend. We currently live in Vineyard!

Lee Gillie:

My name is Lee Gillie. I am the Athletic Director at SHHS. Before coming to Salem Hills, I taught and coached at Payson High School from 2002-2008. My favorite foods are NY style pizza and popcorn! My favorite colors are Skyhawk Blue: Navy and Carolina! My favorite hobbies are family trips, watching movies and watching shows! My favorite sports are snowboarding, wakeboarding, and canyoneering! My favorite holiday is Christmas. My favorite band is Counting Crows: Mr. Jones and Round Here. We love being Skyhawks! My wife, Vanessa, teaches English at Salem Junior High. We have 4 children. Trenton is a Junior, Kensington is a Freshman, Adelaide is a 7th grader, and Logan is a 5th grader. We are in 4 different school buildings for one more year.

Abby is a first year sophomore to our team! Since the beginning, she has always asked for feedback on how she can improve as a ballroom dancer in technique, choreography and execution! She takes corrections well and has such a strong desire to be the best! She is just the sweetest and the biggest smile on her face! Our annual Sadie Hawkins dance is coming up on December 13th from 8-10 pm in the cafeteria. Tickets are $15/couple if purchased ahead of time from the finance office and $20/couple if purchased at the door. The dance will be done in a Barbie theme. Wear your matching shirts and come have fun by dancing the night away!

Corom Hughes: My name is Corom Hughes. I am the Social Worker at SHHS. Before coming to Salem Hills, I worked at the Utah County Jail. My favorite food is ice cream! My favorite color is brown. My favorite hobby is making sweaters from my dogs fur. My favorite sport is any where you can get hurt. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. My favorite kind of music is 90's Gangsta Rap. I, Corom, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings of my 4 daughters and wonderful wife. We enjoy road trips and the occasional long walk on the beach at and around Leo Carillo near Malibu California. In our travels though the wilderness there have been many afflictions but our burdens have been made light through the meat of both small and large beasts. Near or far we have gained a stronger bond as a family and some might even say friends.
Andy Gull: My name is Andy Gull. I am a Counselor and Assistant Baseball Coach at SHHS. Before coming to Salem Hills, I worked at Swire Coca Cola. My favorite food is tacos! My favorite color is blue. My favorite hobby is fishing. My favorite sport is baseball! My favorite holiday is Christmas. My favorite kind of music is anything Johnny Cash. We are a family of 3! We love baseball, Disneyland and being together.
